About us
The Nordic Gravel Series is the largest gravel event series in the Nordics operating in Finland, Sweden and Norway. We offer social, inclusive events and welcome beginners and seasoned riders alike. Join us for one of our free NGS social rides in our event regions and reach out to our ambassadors for more info.
Sustainability
As organizer of gravel cycling events we respect the Nordic nature we have the privilege of riding in by carrying out our events as ecologically as possible for a small business. We do our best to make sustainable choices and encourage our riders and partners to do the same.
We are in the beginning of our journey to become a sustainability certified event organizer. Our goal is to reach the Sustainable Travel Finland label of Visit Finland in 2024.
Some examples of our efforts:
- We collaborate with local small businesses at our event locations e.g. sustainable GreenStar hotel in Lahti, local small breweries such as AntBrew and Kimito Brewing, local restaurants such as Söderlångvik Cafe, Peloton Eatery and other local service providers.
- We request our local catering partners to offer and prioritize vegetarian food as an option and do our best to minimize food waste.
- We organize shuttle services to our events and encourage riders to travel by train and to carpool when possible.
- We encourage international riders to discover the Nordics by bike and to stay for longer than just an event weekend.
- We use an existing network of gravel and forest roads and ask our riders not to litter.
- Our bike wash points are equipped with eco-friendly 100% biodegradable products by REX
- We choose to not offer free promotional material unless it is an essential product for our riders or immaterial.
- We collaborate with Velocio Apparel, known for their strive towards more sustainable cycling apparel.
- We collaborate with Suunto, a trusted companion in the outdoors since 1936, making long-lasting and repairable products to minimize environmental impact.
Inclusivity
Everyone is welcome to our events the way they are. We accept no discrimination at our events and ask our riders and employees to report any form of disrespectful behavior and harassment.
We collaborate with cyclist Lara Annala to bring visibility to her charity project #irideforcancer, a fundraising for the Finnish Cancer Foundation (Syöpäsäätiö).
