NGS x Johan Museeuw Gravel Camp June 2025

Join cycling legend Johan Museeuw, the Lion of Flanders, to explore the beauty of the Salpausselkä UNESCO Global Geopark, in the Finnish Lakeland region. The area offers stunning natural beauty and diverse pastoral landscapes alternating with forests and pristine lakes. 

This guided 4-day gravel tour takes you around the best gravel roads and trails in the area. Covering approximately 400 km with 4000 meters of elevation gain during a unique gravel adventure. The daily average distance is 100 km, requiring good fitness, but maintaining a social pace and atmosphere. Daily shortcuts are possible. The small group size guarantees a personal experience and highend accommodations. Wellness and spa, golf, sauna and lake swimming are some of the side actvities available.

Highlights and itinerary

  • Gravel biking through the Salpausselkä Geopark area with ridges, eskers and kettle holes from the Ice Age. This area has also been the setting for various international gravel events during the last 5 years.
  • Finnish Lakeland Region countryside: nature with pristine lakes and forests as far as you can see
  • Cycling with premium BMC gravel bikes without luggage. Luggage transport  provided from accommodation to another.
  • Hosted by Johan Museeuw and guided by local guides, with years of experience in the region, who have hand-picked the best routes for you to discover
  • Vääksy canal, Evo National Park, farmland views and lake swimming after a day of cycling 

Day 1: Individual arrival to Lahti 

Day 2: Lahti - Vierumäki (100 km)

Meeting the guides and rental bike fitting. On the first day the scenic farmlands, alternated with forest roads, offer the perfect intro to the Lahti gravel region. 70% of pristine gravel and forest roads with a handful of ascending meters towards the end. A rewarding Finnish sauna, lake swim and dinner await in Vierumäki.

Day 3: Vierumäki - Vierumäki (110 km)

Starting towards south and warming up on a gravel rollercoaster for breakfast from Vierumäki you will be cruising along wide-open gravel roads for the following 50km. After the intro follows a rollercoaster of forest roads ending with an additional 400 ascending meters in the last 16 km. 80% unpaved and gravel roads. 

Day 4: Vierumäki - Lehmonkärki (95 km)

Turning west the hardpack pristine gravel roads pass along, and in between, multiple lakes. We pass the Vääksy canal landmark connecting Lake Vesijärvi and Lake Päijänne. 70% unpaved and gravel roads. First night in the Lehmonkärki premium resort is a perfect ending for this day! Yacuzi, sauna and lake swim with spectacular views.

Day 5: Lehmonkärki - Lehmonkärki (100 km)
The final day of riding takes you through undoubtedly one of best gravel sections in the region: the Evo National Park. Beautiful and wide gravel forest roads are once again alternated with farmland scenery. No long climbs but you will collect over 1000 ascending meters by the time you return to Lahti.

Day 6: Return to Lahti and Individual departure 

As we want to provide the best possible experience to the guests, we reserve the right to make changes to the route when needed. The content of the trip may change due to weather or other conditions to ensure the safety of our customers. The local guides may also adjust the itinerary during the trip based on their discretion.
